Back when work began on the development of DoubleGate in 1983, it was not nearly as common as it is today to have a combined Homeowners Association and Swim and Tennis Club. The developers envisioned a community which would allow people the option to join both the HOA and/or Swim & Tennis ... which essentially means that membership in either is optional.
Optional does not mean passed by or ignored however and both the HOA and the Swim & Tennis are thriving ... not because of any mandatory membership requirement but rather because both organizations strive to add value to DoubleGate residents and the community as a whole.
